A Nice Place to Be

Hello friends,

Watson & Lou has been open for nine months now, and here are few things key things we've learned.

  1. Hunter & Water is a friendly, pleasant, and delicious place to hang out. (Here's lookin' at you By the Bridge, The Planet, Le Petit Bar, St. Veronus, and Food Forest.)
  2. Learning new crafty skills every month is really satisfying.
  3. Some people have no idea what the female reproductive system looks like. It's a bird! It's a plane! It's..."abstract sheep"?

With the return of beautiful weather comes baby showers, retirement parties, weddings birthday parties worth leaving the house for, and sometimes, the insatiable need to revamp your space!

Here are some things you might like to give or keep all to yourself...

We now have the ENTIRE planet series plus some other gems by Toronto artist Jackie Lee.

We've got a plethora of new colours and sizes in these liquid proof, super absorbent, machine washable, environmentally friendly solutions for your Aunt Flo by Peterborough's Meghan Law (County Cloth Creations).

We've got perfectly stylish and rustic new furniture pieces by Jeremy Kelly (Peterborough Wood Co.) on which to rest your favourite tea, beer, books, and feet.

Speaking of beer, we've got brand new BEERINGS (yes, they're made from cans of mostly local beer!) from upcycler extraordinaire Kathryn Bahun (Keetarella).

Emerance Baker (Stoney Lake Textiles) is at it again with a zillion new wet/dry bag designs for your travels, baby care, and gym needs, and as always, is mashing hilarity with seriously beautiful fabric.

And we're totally restocked with some of your fave household items like reusable beeswax wraps (bye bye saran wrap), oversized designer mugs, and Fat Paint to get going on those spring furniture refurbishing projects.

And there's SO MUCH MORE! Pop in the shop to check out gorgeous new jewelry by Nikki Cobden (The Inspired I), adorable felted animals by Manon Gagnon (Mon Amie Manon), and piles of totally natural and effective sunscreen and bug spray by our fave, Aryn Mahood (Sweet Song Herbals), etc.

As for workshops and events, the end of the month is JAM PACKED!

We'll be hosting a Low Poly Craft-Along next Thursday night, May 31st. Come on out toward the end of the week to make some new friends and some crazy-awesome decor. Book your ticket online for $10, and then grab your kit in store.

The following night is the June #FirstFridayArtCrawl, where you can find us hanging with Lucky Jenny Jackson, Mark L. Craighead, and the brand new Pedal Parlor Co., 6-10pm.

On Saturday June 2nd, we've got another Beginner Macramé Class with Angie Zavitz so you can experience the magic of turning knots of hand-dyed cotton cord into a perfect little piece of decor.

And right on the heels of your macramé masterpieces, we've got a Quickbooks 101 Workshop by Julie Middleton on Sunday July 3rd for all you entrepreneurs and small business owners trying to do everything on your own!

Keep your eyes peeled for a Fat Paint workshop and another succulent adventure with Heck Yes! in the near future.

Shout out to our new neighbours at The Twisted Wheel who recently opened their eclectic, welcoming, super shnazzy vinyl-filled bar right next door :)

Thank you Peterborough for making our shop, our street, and our downtown such a nice place to be.

And just because, here's a cute baby decked out in Sun & Stars organic cotton.

Hope to see you soon!

Anna & Erin
