Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows, and everything that's wonderful, that's how we feel when people get to express their true selves without judgement (and have bodily autonomy, wtf).
Rhetorical question: Is one month for a simultaneous mainstream feature of Indigenous History and Pride (with oodles of superficial corporate rainbow-washing) enough??
LOL. Of course not.
But it seems like designated days and months are important steps toward sharing truths and hardships and celebrations that have been brutally sidelined, so we'll just go ahead and use them as a reminder that learning about harsh realities past and present, taking concrete steps toward reconciliation, and promoting love and acceptance has got to be our jam every day, all year long.
An extra special thanks this month to all the fabulous Indigenous and queer makers who allow us the privilege of showcasing their incredible work.
Here's hoping your summer will bring you some quiet reading time, rainbow-infused dance sessions, and actual real-live parties of a kind where we can be more awkward than ever, but also be filled with the warm fuzzies of re-kindled community nonetheless...
