Paddler Press is a brand new poetry and art mag based in Peterborough, Ontario. We’re aiming to publish four times a year: July, October, January, and April. Our goal is to share the work of amazing creators with the world. Each issue will be themed and the submission windows will offer plenty of time for writers and visual artists to reflect on the ideas and inspirations that appear.
Our first issue, Canoe Lake Memories, dedicated to and inspired by Canadian painter and outdoorsman Tom Thomson, is our first issue and was released on July 8, 2021. The Tom Thomson story continues to hold us and keeps us coming back to the waters of Canoe Lake, the Cairn, and the Mowat Cemetery. We paddle past the same points and islands, we fish the same bays and creeks. He is around every bend in the water. We understand why he loved this place.
Each copy includes a bookmark, sticker, and print by local artist, Jeff Macklin or Jackson Creek Press
